I'd actually been debating all that but decided not to go too deep into it because it was getting clunky. I was thinking about Mr. Black incapacitating Karl in some way (tranq dart to the back or an electrical charge in the collar) before he left, since Matt could make his first order "kill that man."

On Matt's side, I think some of the vast money he's spent just getting into this room was spent on his own security and research. I just wasn't sure how to show that without getting distracted from the story I wanted to tell.
