Re-reading it after the 'sad' comments, I think it did find that little bit of conflict/despair/sad that I hadn't planned on at the end.

But y'know. Jensen's just trying to hide how scared he is of returning unconditional love with unconditional love under his fear of being a bad person for having lust too. So don't be too sad for them.
