I remember in the 80s, people would toss out entire living room sets and nice furniture, you don't see that these days. Still, I have paid for only one couch or chair in my entire life, and it was $10 from the Salvation Army.

Putting out rat poison is stupid anyway. The rat will eat it and die inside the wall of your house, leaving a foul smell behind for YEARS while it rots! My mom poisoned mice once and got that result. And the worst of it was in my room, yay.

With all my cats, I have never, ever, seen a rat or mouse indoors. And I have lived in some skeevy places, especially in Houston. Like, a three bedroom house for $500 a month. I'm sure you can guess the quality of the neighborhood and the building itself; it was FULL of mice. I went and caught three semi-feral cats from the parking lot, brought them inside, and tamed them. They were AWESOME cats (there is literally no love like the love you get from a tamed cat), and I never saw a mouse again. Man I miss those cats! They've all since passed on.

Now that I think about varmints, I don't even see mice or rats outside unless they're dead. Of course, we don't have squirrels either. Or moles, or lizards, or cicadas... If it's smaller than a cat, they're eating it.

Anyway, rambling.
