I'm glad it feels real. It is tricky to touch on such a serious subject in what is essentially a romance novel and I'm very pleased to hear it isn't insulting or stereotypical.

I love strong-protective-selfless jeff. I have yet to manage to write him in a true romantic scene with either of the boys but I keep it in the back of my head.
