OMG cleaning

So.  I've  clearly gone mad.  I've decided that before school starts on Monday, I need to straighten (not deep-clean, but not stuff-it-somewhere) the whole house.  Including such problem spots as:

 the freakin' craft room (done)
             After:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tc-QNXWug90
Utility room (done)
            Before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=weFfbwIYchE
            After: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daf8ugavlY4
Front closet (OMG shoes! It's taking longer than the craft room, I swear.  HOW?!!??!!)  (half-done)
            Before:
The "office closet" where we keep random papers and stuff. (unstarted)
The bedroom closet aka most inefficient space evar! (unstarted)

I figured if I could finish the craft room  in around 2 hrs with Kendra's help, I can get these two and a half projects done by monday.

It sounds silly, but it's easier to get around to tackling one of these massive projects if I make a before and after video.  Sam's sure getting his money's worth from the camera, I tell you what.

On a non-cleaning note, Kendra and I have been walk/jogging around the little park.  We're getting longer runs and shorter walks every time.  If we keep it up, I'd say we're about two weeks from being able to make a full lap.  I was using that breathing tecnique where you exhale hard on a one-count and take a 3 count to inhale.  So it's "in, in, in, out!"  That made a drastic difference in a cramp in my side and my endurance and how fast I recovered while walking between runs.

Monday is the first day of weight-training class in school.  Lookin' forward to it.

YAY! However

being the critic I am, I was kind of hoping for a kitty cameo! LOL

Piff's sleeping on the chair in there now. He's all zen with the room clean. No more tree-monster.

Ah! He was being invisible in plain sight!

Oh, not in the video. He was eating or something.

The cleaning process disturbed him. He kept trying to dig everything out of the garbage can. Onceit was all clean though, he was chillin'.

DUUUUUUDE. You are a MACHINE!! \o/ Awesome!

The video really helps. I am all about the outside validation.

Sam was impressed. Very impressed.

The walk/jog felt good too.

Awesome job!
:)

Yay!

Little Piff doesn't know what to make of it now. He just sort of sniffs around and looks all mellow.

Clean house for the sake of the cats.

You rule! The craft room looks fantastic. In the before video I wasn't even aware that there was an outside door there. LOL!

Great job!

Unfortunately that's the most-used entrance to the house, so a lot of crap gets dropped in the craft room.

Yay! It feels great. I went in and just sat in the middle of the floor for a while last night. :)

Well done on all fronts! I feel your pain/joy w/ the walk/jog thing. I've just signed up for a 1/2 marathon and am in serious muscle pain here. I think I've bitten off more than I can chew. Also, the more you run/jog the warmer your body will be and the faster it will warm the air coming into your lungs and the fewer cramps you'll have. I've tried the breathing thing and the in through the nose thing really works. Keep at it! I'm cheering you on.

[identity profile] ladyjanelly.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Try the "in in in whoosh." The ins are through your nose, out through your mouth. I was breathing in three beats before and out three beats. This made a huge difference.

If you take the same time to exhale as inhale, you're inhaling new air 50% of the time. This way, it's 3/4 of the time.

Gotta wear my wide headband/earmuff thing next time I go out. Ear misery with the cold really gets to me.

Congrats on a job well done!

Thanks. :)

Congrats on the new rug rat. :)

Well done you! I'm very impressed.

[identity profile] ladyjanelly.livejournal.com 2008-01-12 07:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks. I never did get the two "unstarted" projects done. I ended up working more on the craft room, putting up a project-hanging clothes rod between the shelf and the wall by the door, and building a single long shelf over the work space. It was awesome.

And then I used all that clean space to finish someof those half-done projects.

Hey, congratulations on an excellent cleaning job! The room looks fantastic, and double congrats on the projects you finished. I've been cleaning a lot around here with inspiration from LJ friends so it is healthy all around.

If I may ask an off-topic question, who is the young boy in the icon above? He kind of reminds me of my dad at that age.

[identity profile] ladyjanelly.livejournal.com 2008-01-13 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
I skipped the more-cleaning in favor of putting in a shelf over the workspace and a clothing rack pole into the craft room...and then I finished stuff.

The young boy played the younger version of the guy in my icon in this comment in Dark Angel, the episode with Jensen's one-shot character, Ben.

[identity profile] fannishliss.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 07:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Aha! I never watched Dark Angel. The young Ben icon had a black and white 1930s look to me, so that is what confused me. With the B/W and the crewcut, there is a photo of my dad that looks just like that -- so I thought it was a real person instead of a fictional one!

[identity profile] ladyjanelly.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Ahhhh.

Would you like me to put the episode on yousendit or something for you? Ben is the kid in my "Today's Tom Sawyer" SPN/DA AU verse.

I really like the icon. I had hair that short not too long ago, and it seemed to fit me somehow.

[identity profile] fannishliss.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
That would be very sweet of you! I've been quite curious about Ben.

It is a really cool icon.

Re the hair -- I'm 39 and I haven't cut my hair since 1986! It was short then, but now I'm trying to get it all the way to my knees -- I have about 2 inches to go!

[identity profile] ladyjanelly.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Damnation. All the file-send places won't let me send a 350mb file anymore. Do you know of any?

Heh. I had my hair cut finger-length from 2000-2006. I'm just nowletting it grow out. It comes down to my nose in front. It's very very weird.

[identity profile] ladyjanelly.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, this video shows most of the story.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8kgSMmcQWE

Long story short (DA spoilers liek whoa)

They are genetically engineered super-soldiers who escaped the govt when they were around 9 yrs old. Trained to hunt and kill. Ben--just couldn't function outside. He worshipped a goddess they'd created for themselves inside, and killed in sacrifice to her. Max (Alba) found out and hunted him down. Trying to help him if she could, but stop him either way. Broke his knee backwards, and the govt was closing in and he asked her to kill him.

Thanks very much for finding this for me. I'll look forward to it!

Yeah, the hair is freaky long. But now it's like Klingon Honor or something not to cut it!

Oh, yeah, that was a very cool video. Jensen was certainly beautiful at that age. And I love that bit at the end where the vidder put in his character voice -- all high pitched and completely not Dean. Whew! It got me. Poor Ben!

[identity profile] ladyjanelly.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Ben was completely not!Dean. Alec (Ben's genetic twin) was like a proto-Dean, all smart-mouthed and a hero behind his devil-may-care attitude.

Oh yes, and my he was beautiful in those days. Even more than now (althought I like the way he wears the years, becoming more handsome as he ages a tiny big). He was just unreal at the time. Too beautiful for this world. :)

[identity profile] ladyjanelly.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
That's awesome about your hair. I can't even imagine. Mine's looked like this icon for the past half-decade or more, and was chin-length to touching-shoulders length before that.

Wow. Knees.
