recipe: pork roast slow cooker
My slow-cooker is huge. Adjust accordingly.
5lb pork roast
1/2 red onion, sliced
5 sticks celery, sliced
1 lb green beans, broken bite-size
2 handfuls mushrooms, sliced
1 cup water
1 cube veggie bulion
1 Granny Smith apple, cored and sliced fine
1/8 tsp each of
salt
pepper
rosemary
parsley
sage
put pork in pot and add the rest on top of it. Save the apple for last and put that on the very top.
Cook 5 hrs.
OMG tender. I never had a taste for pork before but this was amazing.

I'm very bitter right now.

I think one of my favorite accomplishments was fixing the gas lever on my car (that's the part inside the hood that moves when the gas pedal is pushed. Possibly named something else officially) with a little piece from my archery kit and a chilton's manual.

These are the practical kinds of things that I wish somebody had taught me, growing up. Now, as an adult, I feel handicapped by my lack of experience in so many things. It's irritating and makes me angry with myself.
I'd love to take some craft classes. Archery was also something that always interested me; though I'd have to do a lot of arm exercises before I had the strength to pull anything more than a kid's bow. Brushing up my Spanish has been a long-term goal, but my memory's kinda shaky and I'm not sure how much I'd grasp, any more. Damn hobbies all cost money, too, which isn't wise for me to be spending right now. I really need to cut the book-buying out, too. :(
I recently learned how to change my windshield wipers. \o/ Small steps, but they're big to me.

I can put fluids in my old car (not the Impala. It's confusing under there). I can jump-start and change a tire.
When Kendra came to us she couldn't even wash laundry. She had no life skills at all at all. I'm teaching her to cook more than ramen and garden and sew and stuff.
Craft classes are awesome. I took one on leatherworking and i keep wanting to take one for beading. I took pottery at the local crafter's guild.
Archery is also very cool. I like shooting moving human targets more than fixed ones. More adrenaline because if I don't hit them with the foamy arrow they'll hit me with the foam-covered stick.
I speak no foreign languages. At all.

You would not believe the number of cookbooks I have. *I* don't believe it,myself. Using them is one of my goals for this year.Maybe.*shifty eyes*
