Even as nasty as it was, he coulda shoulda been able to get a little reconstructive surgery to fix it up. Hmmm.

Yeah... unless he wants the reminder... maybe he feels guilty for something and he thinks he needs it, like a mark and a reminder of something that he believes he did wrong or feels guilty about, or I don't know, something. You're the one who knows ;)
