Almost got a new cat on tuesday.
Kendra and I went to the animal shelter to turn in the paperwork showing that we had Piff fixed and vaccinated and all. Took forever for the lady to type it all in, so I was like--"mind if I go play with the cats while you do that?"
And there was this tan little female. Sooo sweet. Reached for me through the bars while I was looking at the only kittens there. Touched but didn't scratch. I petted her through the bars and then let her out in the playroom.
She loved on me like crazy. nuzzling and purring and walking between my legs. I stood up and she wrapped her arms around my leg and nuzzled my thigh.
We had to go then to pick the hubby up at work. He has said no new cats until Lily kicks the bucket but I think it would be better for Piff to have a friend now so he's not so sad when Lily goes. Anyway, I wouldn't have brought Sam to see the cat if I didn't think she was perfect.
Turns out she was so affectionate because she was in heat. :( So we agreed to wait and see if she's still there/still lovey in a week or so. They only put down ill or agressive animals so it's not like she'll be killed.
On the good side of things, i asked the people at the shelter if I can come by once a week or so and brush the cats (this one was shedding like CRAZY. Like--what color are my pants under this tan fur?? CRAZY.) They're in cages, some of them for a month or more, and that must not feel good.
Also, the healing powers of small animals can't be bad for me. Hurt my back again and I"m all bummed at not being able to do all the things I want to.
