It makes perfect sense, and is exactly why I don't like having the crew turn up en masse, because you get grumpy!best friend Chris, well-meaning!douche Chad, puppy!Jared, (usually) bitchy!Jensen, etc etc. The tendency is to use these cookie cutter shorthand characterizations that are popular, instead of actually try to build them as interesting people, whether their real personalities (as far as we know them) are used or not.
Some OCs are obvious self-insertion, too, but Garrett's not, lol.
