I've forgotten how to do paragraphs.

I mean--I understand the principle.  It just seems like the placement for the paragraph breaks are coming at random for me tonight.  Like they could be put between any of the sentences with equal validity.  My instinct for the breaks isn't there.

Weird.

That's happened to me before - not the paragraphs, per se, but forgetting something totally basic for awhile or it just not looking right to my eyes even if I've gotten it right.

Synapse failure!

Actually...that may be it. I'm writing in an incredibly different voice (a lawyer from 1875), and maybe that's throwing me.

Writing Jarrod POV is messing with my head, I think. I've got the voice, but not his way of organizing his thoughts, I think. If that makes sense.

It does make sense. Unfortunately I can be of no help whatsoever. My BV muses are very weak (Heath can barely be heard) and Jarrod would be non-existent. O.o

I'm surprised how clear my muses are after such a short time. My Heath, Jarrod and Nick voice are all pretty distinctive.

The Jarrod-fic is set in an AU-Earth He um...buys Heath at auction. Sometimes my mind embarrases me.

*grabby gimme hands!*

That sounds totally wicked! I love AUs when they're well done, and I think you can totally handle the 'well done' part.

Can't wait to read it!

Miss you too.

So looking forward to the end of the semester when I get to write again.

I think I've read everything there is in the Big Valley fandom, so I should be writing more and reading less soon. :)

How've you been? Up to anything fun?

Looove that icon.

I think one thing that's missing in BV fic is the AUs. I mean--there's a lot of "different way heath came to Stockton" fics, and a very few "different end to ____ episode" but no "In a world where this never happened" or stuff like that. Few big-AUs. If that makes sense. It feels very bound by the traditions of fic-writing in the '90's.

A few years ago I realized that the divisions are usually quite arbitrary. I do paragraph breaks mostly at the end, I have less rather than more, and sometimes I do them based mainly on visual presentation or some need for structure. Paragraphs do not exist in nature. The original version of the Bible was written one line after another, with the books themselves being the only natural divisions.
