Our living room looks like we had a slumber party that never ended.

This is because everyone who lives in our house is sleeping there.

The central air is out, and the warranty company is replacing it (tomorrow, supposedly), but for now we've just got the window unit in the craft room and 6 fans bringing that cold air into the living room. Getting the bedrooms cold just isn't happening.

It's way too hot to go play outside.

On a seperate note, apparently Lilycat is losing control of her bladder because she pissed in my bed and slept on it. And in the hall. And under the coffee table.

Oh Lordy, I dun envy you, but I can surely sympathize. We came back from holiday last year at nearly midnight to find a house hovering somewhere around 100 degrees. OMg! Some of us slept in the basement, & a few more crammed into one small room with a window A/C unit. Like camping but unpleasant! ;) I hope your repair folks are right on time tomorrow!

Lilycat, you say? You're the second on my list that has a Lilycat--is it a reference to a character?? *scratches head*

Sorry that your air is out. Feel free to come hang here if you need to cool off. I know how much that sucks in the summer, as we lost ac for 3 days here last year.

Poor Lilycat. How old is she now?

We dunno how old lily is--probably at least 14? I lose track of these things.

The AC isn't so bad. The craft room unit is making that room like a freezer and we're pushing the cold air through the three public rooms of the house with a multitude of fans.

Thanks for the offer though. :)

You poor poor people. I can not even fathom what I would do if my AC went out here in Houston let alone Dallas where it can get way hotter than down here. I wish you a quick and speedy fix of your AC

The window unit in the craft room is like the arctic. :) It's freezing in that room, and we're pushing it through the three public rooms of the house with a multitude of fans. It could be much worse.

Your A/C company is for the loss. What did they say the problem was this time?

If they don't get it fixed, you can take the window unit from your barn and put in in one of the rooms in your house pretty quick. It's 110v so it wouldn't take much to do.

The compressor blew. So the whole outside unit is getting replaced. Finally. They've been fixing one burned-out wire at a time for two years now. Stupid warranty company. The good news is we just have to pay the disposal fee and maybe the taxes on the new unit.

I was thinking about pulling the window unit but I think we're good on the couches for one more night. That unit in the craft room is heavy-duty. It's like 60 degrees in there, 70 in the dining room and maybe 74 in the living room. Probably 85 or higher in the bedrooms that we've got closed off.

"disposal fee" huh? The coil in the old unit is worth about 100$ at a scrap yard :)

Oh man, I had this happen before too, it was awful! We bought a TINY window-unit and stuck it in the kitchen window, and ended up with the bed and everything made of leather (mold was a problem) stashed in our living room/kitchen area, with a blanket nailed up across the hallway. I think we lived like that for over a year. I hope your ordeal lasts a shorter time!

I made the mistake of cooking sausage in the kitchen once and everything we owned was sausage-y for AGES.

We were keeping different hours too, so I ended up doing a lot of activities after dark with a flash-light while Krypt slept. I also got wireless headphones so I could watch TV/listen to music without waking him up. It was in interesting time.

So sorry about Lilycat, and I apologize for not leaving FB on your latest fics (they were both awesome), I've been at a loss for words lately and when I do have them I've been having to use them elsewhere. If that makes sense.

They say it'll be monday now. They came and took the old unit today and are bringing the new one then. Arg.

Heh. Sausage.

My ex and I were in a semi-homeless situation for a while a long time ago where we shared the dining room of a house, that had been abandoned for a year, that had one tiny AC unit put back in it. Yeah, I got used to sleeping with more than one pillow on my head. Interesting, yes.

No worries on the FB. I'm sort of short on words myself. I used to reply to like every comment I got and now I just feel like I sound weird when I reply to people who comment on the fics (and most of my rl stuff). I'm trying to get over it but it's not coming quick.

Take care of yourself. I hope the new dosages of the meds are working themselves out with your system and vice versa.

Thank you! Yeah the abandoned house thing sounds about right.

Our thing happened during the summer AND a heat wave (thus proving my theory that God hates me), and the a/c kept that one room around 80 degrees and that was all it could manage. The rest of the house was over 100 degrees, so we would dash into it to grab clothes, bathe, and run back to the cool part.

Hey. Sorry it took so long to get online and comment to friend... I'm off to read your Homeless story next, but wanted to quickly stop by now that I have the internet. Also yes I remember I must finish Boondock Saints.

As to Lilycat, is she doing that? It could be because she is stressed. Cats do that when scared, angry or stressed. You may want to talk to your vet. If it is just age there is a daily med for bladder control... heck valtrex for kittens :)

Glad you got your internet back.
We stilllll don't have central air. The bedroom is like a foreign land now. We visit it when we need clothes. Soon we will stop putting clothes there when they're clean and will have fully migrated to the living room.

Lilycat is better now. She's all full of cancer so we thought it was pressing on her. She's old and not a good candidate for surgery so we're just trying to make her comfy until her time comes. But yeah. If the peeing starts up again we'll take her. Good suggestion.

Still no AC? Ouch. Just the suggestion is getting me all sticky. Just think of how much larger the house will feel when you can use all the rooms again. *here's to freedom*
Sorry about Lilycat. I have a 14+ stray that wandered into our yard last October and made himself at home. He is huge, but his heart is in seriously bad shape. The doc said, just love on him, that's all he wants...
