Life update

Spent the holidays in North Carolina.  Most of my mom's family either lives there or was visiting at the same time.
The mountains are beautiful this time of year, in a bleak sort of way.  My mom's new house is like 100 years old and beautiful.  They threw me an impromptu baby shower.  It was all cute and stuff.:)

So. Everybody up there has dogs and I'm allergic.  I do okay if I don't pet any of them.  I ignored my grandmother's sweet old lab and my mom's two playful mutts.  I even avoided my sister's lab/shepherd mix puppy.

And then my sister's other dog comes up to me, all tail wagging and sweet.  He's a 2 yr old blond-colored pit, all skinny (getting treated for worms) and scarred up (he's been fighting something up on the mountain where they live).  He put his big old head in my lap and just leeeeaned there and yeah.  I was done.  Luckily he was so short-haired that I didn't break out in hives.

Baby's doing great.  Thought I felt a kick last night.

Heh. Where do you live? We were as far west as you can possibly be and still be in NC. My youngest sister lives in Wilmington and says she can drive to Florida in the same time it takes her to get to Robbinsville.

I live in Greenville about 2 1/2 hours from Wilmington. One of our managers is from the Wilmington store and thats where we go for most of meetings. :)

We're doing really good. I'm feeling kicks pretty regular now. Every night when I go to bed, after my breathing slows down.

This duala stuff sounds pretty cool. Wickett recomended Ihave one if I want a natural birth in a hospital setting.

<a href="http://www.dona.org/mothers/why_use_a_doula.php>Why use a doula?</a> It's the difference in hoping you and your husband remember the stuff from birthing class and having to wait for a nurse to answer questions versus having someone who's job is to make the experience as comfortable and pleasant as humanly possible while coaching you (and your spouse) through the process. Since I off hand have no idea what stage of my practice I'll be at in relation to when you're due nor am I certain off the top of my head when you're expected to deliver in relation to the calendar I'm not exactly sure what to ask of you other than how you feel about me being in the room in any form or capacity. The list of applicable levels of interaction and potential time frames for how anything might counts towards the to do list just expanded tremendously when I realized that the "Dallas" workshop is waaaay to close to Valentine's day.

Thanks. It was one of those "it was good to go and good to get home" vacations.

Happy holidays to you too. :)

oh I so understand the dog thing. I'm allergic to cats, and we spent Christmas with my inlaws in NZ and they have two cats, one of whom loves to sprawl herself all over our bed if we leave the bedroom door open. Damn cats! Love the girls though. Just sucks I can't touch them without winding up in hayfever hell.

Heh. I could resist all the cute dogs but that rough-looking guy being so sweet just broke me.
