I've been awake since 5.
Having nightmares of my mother-in-law there at the recovery room next week.
I know there's nothing to be gained by letting this woman have this much power over me.

Doesn't make it easier to stop though.

Also, the Cat Genie would work much better if Blue didn't keep bringing socks and towels and other small cloth items with him to the potty. This is our second clog. Ewwww.

Get a solemn promise from your husband to run interference in the recovery room.

Actual recovery is not that big a deal -- you'll be surprised. Of course my friend and sister came around and made me laugh! which does hurt a bit, like you've done a thousand situps!!

Blessings!

Just tell the nurses to keep her out. They're usually very good at keeping people politely at bay. And really, if it's upsetting you tell your husband to keep her away at least until the next day. It's the least he owes you.

It's okay, your mother-in-law is indeed nightmare worthy. :)

Give me her number and I'll tell her you are delivering across town...yea that is it you are having a baby in Arlington. :) Seriously though you can tell her your docotr advises against guests at the birth due to the swine flu/ or flu that is going around. Or just to keep the risk to you and baby down. Tell her you'll call when you can see guests and be sure to letr your nurses and docs know no visitors (unless you want a n approved list of ppl) Hugs! Hope you sleep well tonight. If I can be of assistance, let me know. :)

If sharing pain will make you feel better, know this:
While I was recovering, my mother in law confronted one of my best friends in the waiting room about sex, congratulated her on still being a virgin, and explaining that she herself didn't find her true sexual being until her 2nd husband. All this during their very first conversation ever.

On the up side, I no longer have to explain to my coworkers that my mother in law is insane when I start telling them the latest story.

Seriously though, if you don't want her there then she doesn't have to be. Births are like weddings in that what the woman wants, the woman gets.

I have no advice for Blue - sympathetic ewwwww :P

Hi, I just re-read In From the Cold and wanted to tell you how much I LOVE this fic. but then I thought 'I'll just see what she's written lately/which fandom/etc etc' and I looked at your recent entries and saw that your about to give birth! eeekkk!!! my beautiful bub is 12 mnths now. What a whirlwind it all is! a surreal, bizarre ride thats for sure!

You probably dont want advice from some crazy person you dont know, a minute before you're due to give birth but heres my thoughts anyway, you can always ignore :)
I was told my bub was between 9 and 10 pnds and he came out 7.5, 12 days late and with huge feet but still, 7.5 is sooo mcuh more civilised!
Some of the best parenting advice I got was from the old greek woman at my corner shop, she said- its a baby, imagine you are on a desert island, how would you care for it? you'd pick it up when it cried, carry it close whenever you could, feed it when it was hungry and lie down to sleep with it when you were both tired.
Its not always possible/appropriate to do all those things all the time but what I took from that was trust your instincts.

My labour ended up being around 3 hours, yeah I tore but I didnt feel it, and it heals really quick. The feeling after is incredible, I felt like I could take on the world! 10 mins after the birth I was in the shower washing my hair, and then I walked up to our room with bub and boyf and ate breakfast. I stayed in hosp 5 nights, mainly to get the breastfeeding sorted, and we had a family room so we could all stay together.

All of my blessings and wishes.
