 So there's a polybigbang  getting ready to start.  And seriously, I have no time or brain to fic with.  But I really want to write a J3 fic where Jensen and Jared are together, and Jeff's their neighbor who's being mistreated and manipulated by his asshole boyfriend.

Hmmm. Only 10,000 words....that's less than Rollerball or Threw Away the Sun...

Honestly -- I think the way to get to a solid J3 is starting with Jensen/Jared and adding in Jeff, as you outline here. Somehow starting with Jeff/either J is shakier, and I cannot for the life of me really decide why I feel that way. (Open to argument, of course -- just a gut feeling on my part.) But Jeff as the third, rather than one of the other two, seems as if it can really fly.

(I feel obligated to add a disclaimer here, which is *ahem* there's been good J3 done before, of course. Only that it always feels like more of a vee relationship -- to ME -- than a real triad. Erm. Shutting up now.)

Yeah, I feel like if it starts with a J and Jeff, the second J is always a little at loose ends, a little bit less of the whole?

I would see Jeff in this like--strong, but with a big heart and that big heart is a big vulnerability. It would be a challenge to get Jeff to that place where he's in a relationship he really needs to get out of. Without making the soon-to-be ex a cardboard, b-movie villain.
