ladyjanelly: (sam dean)

Y'all notice how I've only ever posted one SPN fic that had both Sam and Dean in it, and that for not long at all?

I'll tell you why, and it's pissing me off.

First off, I'd like to be interested in writing Sam&Dean canon!fic, or Sam/Dean almost-canon.  I'd love it.  It'd be cool.  I'd love to write PWP, or Crack!Fic.  I'd love to write plotty monster-mystery fic.

What do my muses give me?  The same damn AU fic, over and over.  Every plot I spark to turns out to be a variation on a theme, wherein:
1)Sam and Dean are seperated young (before Sam's 4 or so).
2)Dean stays with John somehow.  Usually something bad happens to Sam.
3)Dean and Sam run into each other when Sam's between 18 and 22.
4)They join forces against the demon, the world or some other force.
5)and...the end.  I mean I have some vague plotty-thoughts involving the YED, conflict with John, possible Wincest between the poor unsuspecting brothers, but they never settle down and become scenes or anything useful like that.

That seems to be the conflict my brain is fascinated with, Sam and Dean coming together and forming a bond and Sam walks away from his life, good or bad.  They're all like seperated-young variations of the pilot, with no damn second episode.  I've almost got enough that I could do a "5-times these 5 things happened to S&D." fic, except some of them are like 12,000 words long.  And that would suck.

How can I get past, around or through this weird block?  Any suggestions?
