 I should know better than to try to read a fic with numbers-based OCD.

I had to stop watching the TV show Monk when he chose 10 once. 8 or 9 are clearly superior. 10 is MADE OF FIVES. *shudder* Eww.

This fic had a character built on 4s and 8s, but then chose 14 instead of 16 and I couldn't deal with it. 

I'm just glad that I"m not buying all my groceries in pairs anymore.

That is really interesting! And not something that occurred to me before.

It's more of a quirk than anything. I can't say it has negatively impacted my life (I don't think I've even had food go bad that I bought to make the cart symetrical). The biggest inconvenience is that it affects my ability to enjoy fiction about people with numbers-OCD.

I have no problem hearing about people's actual number fixations or systems, especially people who are more bothered by it than me. I'm like "Yeah, your numbers aren't my numbers," but when it's fiction, I get very frustrated for some reason. Like I can't see why a writer would choose the wrong number. :)
