"I'd love to be like you two," the boy said, looking up at the stars.

Murphy leaned back on his elbows, against the sun-warmed metal of the car's trunk. "No y'don't," he says. The boy doesn’t argue. It's not that sort of statement.

"I think about them sometimes," Murphy murmurs as he lights another cigarette off of the butt of the last. "They're out there, the bullets. One has my name on it another has Connor's. I like t' think they're nearby each other, wherever they are. I wonder. If they're just a number on a manufacturer's order, or if they've been made. If they're in a box, or on th' shelf of a gun-shop. It may be that they've been bought already. They could be sittin' on th' gun rack of the man who'll kill us."

His voice is tight. The boy knows it's for the thought of Connor dying.

"Maybe they're in th' gun."

They sit and watch the stars. There's nothing more that needs to be said.

Very short and very unique. This fic seems very abstract to me and I absolutely love it.

Glad you liked it. It was a bit that I'd written and thought about using eventually, but could never fit it into the fic I was working on. And it sorta seemed like it stood pretty well alone.

The MacManus boys always know exactly what their death will look like.

I think thats another thing I loved about the fic- how morbid it seemed. Morbid + abstract = my favorite. :D
