So my husband calls at 8am this morning and says "Good morning. Do you have a going-to-a-party dress?"

And I say "Uh...." and he tells me that the vp of his company came by his office this morning to make sure he'd be at the company party tonight at 8pm.

So I think: Sure, I can do this shit. I used to act like a girl, how hard could it be?

I went to the Mall.
Got haircut
Looked at dresses but they were too expensive or too ugly

Went to Marshalls,
Found dress (original price $139, paid $25)
bought pretty scarf-thing to cover my shoulders a little

went to walmart, bought
hose
earrings necklace
cover-stick
foundation
powder
eyeshadow
eyeliner
mascarra
lipstick
nail polish
tummy-support slimming thing

forgot:
shoes

This being a girl shit is expensive, man.

yes, it is expensive to do the girly thing. i gave up on it long ago, but if i had to crank it up, it'd be doable. it's admirable that you got all this done so quickly!

I know just what you mean. My workplace is very relaxed (we can wear jeans), but once a year for two weeks we hold a convention, and I have to be "corporate moogie" the whole time. Clothes (and tailoring for said clothes), hair, make-up, hose, shoes, etc. It is not cheap. If I'd gone in for the nails, massages, and other extras, it could have cost even more...
