Oh, fics.  Why are the first 1500 words so easy and the rest so much work?

I realized today that I carry around all the WIPs I have in notebooks in my purse.  Usually two per book (less for the fics that fill them up fast).  I'm carrying 5 at this point in time.  5!

Bastards.

Also, I am sick again. Barely got a little well after last week's yuck, and now it's back.  Sick and insomnia, bad mix.

Alas, no. I got to a point where I realized that my plans for that fic are much much bigger than my writer's ambition/ability/stamina.

One of my problems is that there's so many bunnies, so little time. And each of them could be a 10,000-50,000 word fic. Watt St is a good example. I start working on something and then another bunny bites, and this one is newer and shinier and my attention wanders.

Or I run out of scenes before I run out of plot. I know what happens but I can't see it.

It's so easy, it's easier to write two alternate drafts of the first 1500 words than 3000 words of any one...

Sometimes it feels like there's a natural block at 1500 words, and another at around 10,000. I have to either stop before I hit those, or be prepared to just tough through them.
