So has anybody else watched the commentary for the Berrisford Agenda episode of Dark Angel? I figured it was an Alec-centric episode, should have some comments about Jensen. All quotes are aproximate
So the ep. has Alec playing piano, and the producer says "That's actually him playing, did you know that? He learned to play for the episode." And the writer said something like "Enough for the filming, but not playing-playing, right?"
And they go off on this tangent and never say for sure if the actual sounds were what Jensen made from the piano. But they never needed to use the hand-model piano-player at least. And the composer was impressed that Jensen played so well after just a few days of study.
There has to be a plot-bunny in there somewhere.
Also, there was a comment that all kinds of weird stuff was in Joshua's basement, "probably a time-machine down there."
Which could fix some of that DA/SPN crossover time-alignment problem. :) Mmmm, crack!fic.
And I always always love hearing that Jensen disputed with a writer or director about his character. There was a line scripted for Alec that Jensen thought was not right for the state of mind Alec was in, and he was totally right. Would have been deeply-cheezy at that point in the series.

Date: 2007-03-08 11:55 pm (UTC)It's still damned impressive though. Especially the fast parts, learning to mimic the hand placements without having any background in piano. I couldn't do that with a piece I didn't know, and I started learning piano when I was six. Which is not to say I ever got very good (a WHOLE other issue), but my point stands. XD
Plus, Jensen has sexy hands. It would have been a tremendous shame to use someone else's. LOL.

Date: 2007-03-09 08:13 am (UTC)I know some about piano, and it seemed to me than lots of time, his hands weren't were they were supposed to be, although it was altogether real, real good faking.
So, to me, he just FAKED playing the piano real good, but the melody doesn't come from him.
Also, what was that line he refused to deliver ? It interests me !:D
