Holy crap. Hi, new friends!

Holy crap.
Since
digitalwave's manip went up, almost 20 people have friended me. Just thought I should say hi and stuff.
I'm assuming most of you are hear for the fic. That's cool, and I really appreciate it. Fair warning though, I'm a slow slow writer. If you're allergic to WIPs or hate waiting for the next part, you might just want to not read at all until the fics show up on the public comms.
So. Um.
A little about myself.
I'm 36. Married. Full-time student in the interior design department of the local community college. Been living in the Dallas area for a little over 6 years. I like shooting people with (padded) arrows at a medieval-themed combat game, sewing, drawing, and watercolors.
My turn-ons include: hand!porn, lip!porn, couples-cooking. I like my con-crit hard and deep. I post because I really want to know what people think of my fic, and I really really want to improve my writing.
Turn offs include: Fandom wankage. Impatient people. Most forms of wank, actually.
For those new to the game, the other un-pimped fics can be found in the "jdm" tag (although that one is shaping up to be more "Jeff and Dean" than "Jeff/Dean") and the "kitty-fic" tag (Crack-fic where a cat becomes Jared. it makes sense. Sort of). Just, you know, since y'all are already here.
Anyway, welcome to my journal, it's nice to have ya.

Date: 2007-09-17 02:16 pm (UTC)As for waiting for fic, I hate it and love it it. If the story is good I want the next part but I also like that I never know when a part is coming and when it does it's like Christmas.
Back to lurking.

Date: 2007-09-17 07:32 pm (UTC)Glad you're a patient sort. :)
Feel free to lurk, or to comment or to crit the hell out of stuff. It's all good.

Date: 2007-09-17 07:34 pm (UTC)Also glad you're one of the patient ones. :) School is trying to chase off my muse these days, so the writing is a little slow.
Travel is awesome. I'm envious of people who have lived a lot of different places. My hubby lived a year each in Turkey, London and Scotland. I'm all "Uh, Florida and Texas."

Date: 2007-09-17 06:14 pm (UTC)I saw the manip and, therefore, the story. I just got caught up with your WiP and didn't want to risk missing updates. I appologize for not commenting throughout - I just couldn't stop reading long enough to do so.
I like my con-crit hard and deep.
The only thing I can think of (and this could just be me wanting answers) is to possibly give a few hints here and there about poor Jensen's hang-ups. Obviously, the boy's got baggage out the yin-yang, but all I've figured out (with concrete evidence) is that he doesn't have family close (proximity and/or emotionally) and that his roommate is aware of his background.
As I said, this may just be my unwillingness to wait, but I think it would help things along if you let "slip" some clues.
example - Jared notices an old scar while drawing Jensen (I know the art class scene is over and done with, but that was the only example I could think of). Feel free to let me know if I am completely wrong about this or have totally missed some signs.
Now, on to the friending!

Date: 2007-09-17 07:56 pm (UTC)Thanks for the suggestions. I'll see if I can't trickles a few more little mentions next chapter. I kind of feel that at this point in his life, the reactions to things in his life have sort of snowballed to the point where the initial pebble isn't so important as the slow-built mass of people's reactions and Jensen's re-reactions. If that makes sense?
Oh, and just to be a tease--nothing was ever done to Jensen that'd leave a mark 24 hrs later.
Thanks for stopping by and saying hi,
-J.

Date: 2007-09-17 11:01 pm (UTC)I was kind of under that impression - internal rather than external scars.
Oh, and if it's not to much to ask, please (in some future chapter) explain the relationship between Jensen and Garrett and how they met. You have mentioned them meeting in fifth grade and living next door to one another, but I'm really wanting more. ;)

Date: 2007-09-17 06:21 pm (UTC)It's ok, I quite like WIPs because whenever a new part comes out I get to read the whole thing over again, and I love the model!verse.
Umm...I'm also a hopeless lurker.
Cya!

Date: 2007-09-18 12:38 am (UTC)I don't think I actually got around to commenting on fic because it was very late and I couldn't quite form coherent sentences, but I do think that you write beautifully and being inside Jen's head alternately makes my stomach hurt and my heart skip a beat. It's good stuff.
Thanks for the nice welcome.

Date: 2007-09-18 02:23 am (UTC)That's cool. This Jensen is very dear to me for some reason. He's so--himself.
Glad to have you aboard. :)

Fair warning though, I'm a slow slow writer.
I'm the same way, especially with college back in session, so I completely understand long waits between fics, both reading and writing. Your stuff is worth it!

Date: 2007-09-18 02:30 am (UTC)Glad you're enjoying it.
I'm funny. I like--write and edit a whole fic in my head before I type it up. My husband's a writer and he thinks it's a crazy way to get fiction down.

Date: 2007-09-18 11:11 pm (UTC)Wow, write and edit in your head first? You never forget anything?
I've started writing and keeping a billion notes and outlines, but I need paper or a word doc.

Date: 2007-09-19 07:23 am (UTC)Home from work today with the flu and read the whole fic from start to the end of chapter 7. I loved it, it's an AU that has something different and was really refreshing to read.
I'm interested to see what has done this to Jensen, and it also breaks my heart with the opinion he has of himself.
Off to friend you to make sure I dont miss a update.

This is definitely my "Oh, Jensen--" fic.

Date: 2007-09-22 07:33 am (UTC)Hi, just curious, is that more reenactment or Live Role Play?
no subject
Date: 2007-09-22 05:08 pm (UTC)It's a "fantasy" based system instead of a strict re-enactment. there's supposed to be RP, but--I just like hitting people with padded sticks and shooting them with padded arrows.
So for me, it's like a sport with funny clothes. A lot of the Dallas and Texas people have a similar view on the game. There's a little rp when we're in silly moods.
no subject
Date: 2007-09-22 05:33 pm (UTC)There's a pretty decent balence of RP and hitting people with latex weapons at the one I go to, but I'm changing to a new system next time so w'll see how that goes. I think this one may be weighed slightly more towards the rp side, but as I spend most of my time at the events bartending in my friends in character bar I guess it's not much of an issue for me.
Still, I'll miss the medieval sports weekend we used to have at the lorien trust. Football with swords and axes is so much more fun than the normal kind.

Date: 2007-09-23 07:32 pm (UTC)But now the group that I go with, well both groups, because we're kinda split in two, are in the process of moving to a new system called Maelstrom. The settings different, set slightly later so the weapon type is different, more rapiers and gunpowder, than arrows and axes. That's the main down point for me, but other than that it's a lot more well thought out - balanced. Different races have different advantags and disadvantages too, which is nice and there's the chance for down time development.
*stops waffling*

Date: 2007-09-25 12:20 am (UTC)So, hello, I shall be here :) Anything you want to know about me can be found at my LJ. I just filled out a ginormous meme all about me...so if you read that you will know everything you want -or don't want- to know :D lol!
Thanks for the welcome :) It's good to be here!

I love constructive criticism, but I love squee-reviews too. Whichever is more fun for you to leave.

Date: 2007-09-30 07:16 pm (UTC)Your model!verse got recced on spnstoryfinders and I am friending you so I don't lose track. I did see the manip after I read part 7. It...wouldn't have caused me to read.
I am 34, I move a lot, but for now I live in North Florida.
I am assuming Jensen has some sort of social anxiety thing? Looking forward to some sort of backstory on that eventually :)
I really like Garrett and Lenore.

Date: 2007-10-01 10:34 pm (UTC)I'm at the point where there's just so much quantity out there in the SPN fandom, which is great, but I can't possibly read it all. I mostly read things that have a great review, that someone reccs, or that I find on spnstoryfinders.
I'm from Central Florida. Moved up here to Texas in 2001.
Definitely social anxiety and then some. I promise there will be eventual backstory. I can't promise when. :) I've got another J2 fic that's on chapter 13 and just now revealing some backstory.
I will never get tired ofpeople saying they like Garrett and Lenore, because I was so terrified of writing J2 fic and not using Chris or Sandy or who-the-hell-ever that so many people expect.
Thanks so much for the comment.
Welcome aboard.
