ooo baby

"Vasquez" from Aliens

Ooops, another one fell in the post.

Jodie Foster's character in "The Brave One"
She's not all lean and muscled, but she's very real about it all.
Maybe acting talent is a good replacement for muscles.

Chyna from the WWE.  Loved her on Dark Angel.  Even if her actual stuntwork was not-so-hot, she could crush you with her boob-muscles.  Dude.

"Vanessa Lutz" in Freeway.  Reese sold it.  There's a scene where she beats another girl with a telephone and I totally bought the ferocity of that attack.  I think this is the only one who has only 1 of the believable elements to a kickass chick for me.

Pita Wilson as Nikita.  Okay. It's been forever since I've seen this show, but I remember thinking she looked competent.

Hm. Noticing a pattern for women who can sell the "I'll kick your ass" and I'll believe it:

Pretty much any 2 of these 3

a)over 30
b)Good actress OR good at playing the specific badass character
c)MmmmmmMuscles.

I know Xena was mentioned--I think the wire-work in the stunts ruined her for me.  It just seemed so fake.  She did have a good look though.  And mmmmm, tall.

And I haven't seen BSG, so I dunno about the chick in that.

Anyway, hope y'all enjoyed.

If you think of others, don't be afraid to drop a pic or link into the comments.

Heh. Cool.

Yes, her I believe. Her in a realistic fight scene (none of this slo-mo crap) I'd believe.

Katee sackhoff, the one from BSG? Yeah. Just - yeah. Actually, several of the actresses/characters on that show were utterly and unashamedly kickass.

Liked the rest of your list!

Is she on Bionic Woman now? The blonde chick? I dig her.

I wanted to watch BSG but I didn't get into it when it started and then I could never figure out what I wanted to download. it was very confusing.

Yep, she's the blond chick on Bionic Woman now. The character is very badly written, but the actress is still kickass. :-)

Vasquez, yay! I love her. "You ever been mistaken for a guy?"
"No. Have you?"

I'd say Michelle Rodriguez in every film I've seen her in, especially Resident Evil and Fast and the Furious. She projects this barely controlled fury. Have you seen Girlfight where she played a boxer? MAN.

If Katee Sackhoff is the actress who plays Starbuck then yeah, she would beat you down or fuck her shit up trying. She's on the Bionic Woman show right now doing guest star stuff, and she's deadly + insane + nothing to lose, FTW! Awesome character, I wouldn't be able to stand the show without her.

Can't think of anyone else at the moment.

Vasquez rocks my socks.

Oooh, I own Girlfight. That movie's cool. It is a little how I feel at amtgard--not quite as big of a deal, and I don't do much melee combat anymore, but yeah. Except I'm ten years older than the competitive men. But I still have fun.

Oooh, the blonde? She's cool. I believe her.

Yeah, the blonde. I love her.

That's a cool article. Thanks for the link. dude, when a movie with a guy tanks, they don't start talking about never making a movie with a leading man again. Morons.

OOOoh, Vasquez. She roxored.

Xena was cool. Wire work is *hard* - and she totally rode the horses and swung the sword and broke her back doing stunts, so...yeah. Also, even though she's not muscle-y? Tina Turner as Aunty Entity in 'Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome'.

Awesome.
:)

Oooh, Tina. Definitely. She projected badass. I remember her being very hard-bodied in that movie.

I respect Xena, but--I dunno. Maybe I just didn't watch enough of the show.

I always thought the show was a bit goofy, if fun and definitely full of eye candy. And *slahsy*... But i guess i respect the actress more, who is just level-headed and funny and worked hard to do her own stunts and stuff, so it kind of translates over into liking the character.

And she's a *warrior princess*!! Heeeeeeeeee.

I'd like to see her in a different show, actually. She had this confidence when she was in that Tarzan movie that worked.

I always think of the wirework and fancy camera stuff as a cover for lack of ability--although I suppose it's a discipline all it's own.

This chick, Cynthia Rothrock has a crazy resume of martial arts she does.

Well, like i said - wirework is *hard*, and it's basically used for stunts that actual humans *can't* do. So, you know...just making up for our inability to leap forty feet straight up and such.
:)

Who is that chick? Is she a stunt person or...? She's interesting.

I just mean that a show's producer/director/whoever may decide "Okay, this actress can't throw a punch. To make her look combat-ready, lets use wire work to have her jump 40' instead"

Cynthia Rothrock is an American who is a big name in Hong Kong action/martial arts movies (mostly from the 80's and 90's). She's a cool chick. My mother in law does photography for her sometimes.

Ah, very cool. :)

Oh, sure, stuff like is used all the time to make an actor look tough, but Xena - Lucy Lawless - is actually pretty buff and athletic.

It was always verging on camp, but in the beginning the show treated itself with a bit more respect or seriousness. Later, the storyline got so weird and wild trying to fit around that stupid "Dahak takes over the world" plot (god eerily reminiscent of Jehovah except kinda evil).

They ran a parallel storyline on Hercules, with similar results.

It's a shame, they were fun shows. At their best, they balanced humor with angst, family love/loyalty episodes against self-exploratory ones; at their worst...hey, hot people wearing cool costumes, lookit!

Your pattern got me thinking...
Ellen Harvelle.
The way she was in ELAC, Bloodlust, Hunted... I wouldn't be surprised if she'd thrown a hunter or two out of Roadhouse by herself. To my eyes, at least, she projected this tough, able woman who can and will do what's necessary.

Though I've found myself to be partial when roughly middle-aged women are brought into the discussion... ;)

Definitely Ellen. She'd fight dirty and get the job done, whatever it was.

There's a quiet confidence to an older woman who knows she can kick or punch your teeth in. That sort of understated presence.

I kinda think with the boys on SPN, they started as a character and later were shown to be competent fighters. It's harder to do that the other way around.

Naomie Harris in 28 Days Later. She looks scrawny, but that chick is ripped! She could totally kick someone's ass in real life. She could probably kill zombies in real life... even if as Tia Dalma she made them.

Angela Bassett is *always* one I mention when we talk about this subject. Tall, good build, good actress and beautiful.

Jennifer Garner is another one, from Alias. She's done a lot of stuntwork.

I seem to remember Niobe from the second Matrix movie impressed me. Her arms looked very muscled up. I wish I could find a better picture that shows them off, but this was all I could find.
