Lilycat has mammary tumors. Breast cancer for cats.
Because of the stroke/blood clot thing she had and her advanced age, and whatever is wrong with her legs/hips that's got her on pain killers, the vet doesnt think she's a good candidate for surgery.
They're like a chain of beads down one whole side of her. She doesn't act like she's in pain yet.
We're just gonna watch her until it looks like she's hurting.
My poor old cat.

I've really never had a pet get old. The other cat just died on us pretty suddenly. I'm not prepared.

Date: 2008-02-18 02:46 am (UTC)Here's a good page on what to do, when:
http://www.messybeast.com/euth.htm
If you scroll down to "What to do, when", it gives you body language signs to look for to see if your cat is in pain or ready to go.
Here's a thing about how cats feel pain, and some of the things they do:

Date: 2008-02-18 10:53 am (UTC)It's so hard to make that decision of when is the right time, but ultimately you don't want them to suffer and you have to be content in the fact that you have given them that much care and love that they have made it to old age.
Very sad though, poor Lilycat and poor you guys! :'(
