Movie review: Devour.

Non-spoiler review.

Okay.  So.  This is the worst movie I think I've ever seen.  The Ackles boys did a great job and some of the other actors weren't bad.  Jensen was in every scene except one, and that almost made it worse, because I couldn't fast-forward. Couldn't look away.  He was all there being beautiful in the middle of this plotless wonder of a film.

I'd heard that there were script changes mid-production and it shows. Bad.  Kendra and I are still asking each other "So why was that person there?" and "If and then and why what??"

And there were times in the movie when it's just Jensen looking at the camera for like 3 seconds at a time.  Like they just kept filming and somebody should have trimmed that part out.

So bad.  

If I ever watch it again it'll just be to screencap the pretty.  And my god was he pretty in that.  And bloody. And single emo tear.

I bought Devour, and I've seen it five? times. I bought a copy and sent it to Nep. I keep trying to convince people to watch it because NO ONE CAN FATHOM how awful it is.

And his scream of emo pain at the end, when he finds his dead parents or w/e, oh god it was golden.

I can see Jensen looking at the script revision thing and going "Are you shitting me? Seriously. I look up and scream?"

It's more aweful because Jensen's in it and I couldn't turn it off. Damn thing.

Apparently at the last con he was at, someone brought a copy for him to sign and he was like, OH MY GOD YOU ACTUALLY *WATCHED* THIS? *DISGUST* Luckily they were being ironic, hahaha. And he said uh, at another con, "I was IN THIS movie and I had no idea what was going on," or something to that effect. Oh Jensen. Hopefully the script was better the first time around.

let me just say, i have no words for this film but Jensen was pretty and he had some dean shining though at times! but the whole movie was so....-lost in thought-

i don't think i can ever watch it again...maybe for background noise while doing laundry but thats about it! this kind of movie is something you only watch once

It was pretty hard not to watch because he really does try, and he always nice to look at.. I remember seeing some interview where he said he saw the final product and was like "What happened?!!" ..I don't think I could do what he does, put so much of myself into something, and never know until So Much Later if it'll even be any good, because it's up to so many others to screw it up or not, and you are totally powerless to stop them, you know?

Actually somebody did post a funny review of the movie along with a picspam of TEH PRETTY. You should check it out. I laughed my heart out. It made my memories of Devour at least bearable.

It's so mind-blowingly BAD. I showed it to my mom because she didn't quite believe me when I told her that. I liked his demon-mommy's cloven hooves though. They were classy. And of course Jensen kills a lot of my higher brain functions just by existing and looking the way he does.

Sadly, TEH PRETTY is mesmerizing - but when its caught up in a train wreck, its conflicting. LOL I've caught a piece here and there on you tube and based on what I've read here (and other places) I think I'll just back away slowly from it!

I did get to see TiH, and while its not a hot mess, its not particularly original and there's some WTF? scenes.

I tried to find any redeeming quality after I watched it because I enjoy the Ackles that much. But . . . his girlfriend turned into his mom and he was apparently the antichrist or something and what was going on in the end. even without the confusing bits, the overall concept (if i even managed to grab that) was a little ridiculous.

My thoughts exactly...lol (and thank god my caps program does what it does without me actually being required to go through the torture of watching it again, so I got the pretty without the pain ;o)). And I thought House of Wax was gonna be bad. I just feel so bad for Jensen, cause I sure as heck wouldn't want that movie on my resume. I really, really hope at least Bloody Valentine is gonna be better (though I kinda doubt it).

I bought it to make up the difference to the free delivery on Amazon because it was £3 (and delivery would have been £4...sense: it makes none.). And I'm glad that's why I bought it.

It's terrible. However, Ames White is in it and that means he now clearly has to be in Spn to beat up Dean.

And William Sadler was good. But then he is good. (The character who was Jake's biological father rather than the guy he thought was his father. Or the one who was married to Jake's biological mother. I got more than a little confused.)

OMG Martin Cummins (Ames White) is a pain in my ass when it comes to tv and movies. Everything I've seen with him in it I've not liked his character. He just keeps popping up in stuff I watch >:|

I've only seem him in DA and Devour. And since neither were...overwhelmed with the high quality acting/storylines that you might hope for from TV, it's kinda easy just to laugh at them both. (Not that I've not seen DA multiple times. Jessica Alba in leather. *guh*)

And you much watch the 4400. It is truly awesome. (And I'm not just saying that because Brooke Nevin is in it). S4 especially, is just so fantastic and creepy and you will cry in the finale.

And yup, Brooke is in the whole first season. Not that I'm obsessed.

I must be insane, but I just went through DeVour (plus what's with the capital V?) justifying all its crazy choices and enjoying teh Ackles. At the end, I didn't like it, cause I thought they chose a really stupid ending. But maybe I will write Post-Dean Sam comes to save him! that would be cool!

In my opinion, I bet Jensen never knew the devil was in the movie -- I think they went back and added all the stuff with the devil later.

That movie makes me feel embarrassed for Jensen and I have little sympathy for actors who make lots of money doing crap movies. So, uh, that says a lot.

To be fair to actors, they can only do so much! i enjoyed the movie just because I enjoy watching Jensen act, and I have to say I don't really watch horror movies since I find them mostly pretty weak..... so my expectations were very low and I had a good time with it!

My husband is a stage actor and he is currently in a production where the cast is too large, the director is crazy (he's very creative, but keeps adding changes at the last minute); the stage manager was just hired -- in short, the show is a mess, but my husband is just there to do his job! It takes a whole lot of people all making the right choices to make a good product.

A girl who is doing hi def reviews points out how many flaws you can see in Hell House the SPN episode -- so there was a bad editor at work. Still, I don't mind!

A friend of mine was in that movie, which was why I rented it (I didn't know Jensen was in it till I got it at the videostore. I basically was looking for my friend - his role was literally five frames. Not seconds, frames. I had to basically watch it twice to find him.

I hadn't spoken to him in years, but I tracked down his email and told him that I'd lost two hours of my life that I was never going to get back - but he and his "Hetfield" mustache were great in his five frames. I asked him who I should contact to get my money back. Two hours of my life. The least they could do was give me the $4.50!

It really was a bad film, all of it, every scene practically. I think the concept had potential - a viral marketing scheme of sorts that would have people killing each other to get points. (Sounds like World of Warcraft, only, you know, the players would have to leave the house?!) They should have scrapped the whole devil as mother story line.

I'm sorry you went through that painful experience. You will recover eventually.

I feel that the movie is just barely watchable cause of Jensen's desperate attempt to single-handedly carry the movie. I cannot call this the worst movie ever, because I was forced to sit through Undercover Brother! IN THE THEATRE! I actually felt my IQ drop and demanded that the friend that made me got see that movie go and find those lost points and get them back to me. Anyway every actor has at least one dud on their resume, let's just be glad Jensen got his out of the way early on and we can now enjoy dud-free work.
