OMG.
So hot.
Central AC is still broken. It was like 97 today.
We're running off of the window unit that's in the craft room and there's sweat rolling down my back in the next room (with the fan pumping the cold air into here as much as it can).
It's so hot that I went into the barn, got the AC out of there and was gonna set it up in the kitchen (so the two ACs would bring that room and the living room down to bearable temps.
So there's this big window in the kitchen, and I've been saying to Sam, "I should caulk that up, because we never use it and there's no screen. It's just wasting cold air."
And today I was "Oh thank God I hadn't gotten around to that yet, because i can put this handy-dandy window unit in the WINDOW."
The previous owners beat me to it with the caulk thing. In fact, the tile countertop makes it impossible to open that window at all. Ever.
EDIT: Husband came home and was the voice of calm. Window was not caulked, only tightly fitted with tile under it and a windwo blind over it. Husband used a tool (so proud of him, you don't even know) to get the window open enough for fingers to go in. With one of us on the inside and one on the outside we were able to lift it in the tracks and slide it over enough to get the AC in.
There is now cool.
And it was good.

Date: 2008-06-17 02:36 am (UTC)I remember wanting to die when I had to deal with a painted shut bedroom window and no hope for a fan while I was staying with my Aunt in Georgia. Too hot and sticky for my New York/ Canadian self to handle.
*sends blocks of ice your way*

I love that. On a couple occasions of feeling distraught, I've had guys tell me to calm down in a calm voice. It wasn't condescending on their part or anything, but I found it very manly of them to do that, lol.
