The state of Janelly
Aug. 28th, 2008 09:24 pmYeah, I know I've been invisible lately, not posting or even replying to comments.
1) School. Busy busy. Which is good because I do better when I'm busy than half-busy. I have to plan and not-procrastinate and stuff.
Currently Taking:
Materials, methods and Estimating. Sort of a technical researchy class. Lots of charts and checklists and stuff.
Residential Interiors II. Lots of projects and stuff.
Intro to Green Design. Lecture-heavy class. Some research.
History of Interiors II. Research heavy. Reading heavy. Not too bad, hopefully.
2) Sleeping (or rather not). Oh, I'm tired. Just had so many bad dreams in the past few weeks that I'm afraid to go to bed before Sam does, and once he gets up in the morning I have a hard time going back to sleep. So I spend a lot of time trying to sleep but not getting very far.
3)Car stuff. Took the Impala in to get the rear end fixed. Got the world's worst rental. It's a 2007 HHR. Not a bad car except the steering knocks every time I turn. The bad thing is the couple who had it before me had it for a month. It reeks of piss and the first day I had it I was either eaten up by fleas or broke out in hives over my entire back (I'm guessing fleas) so I had to spray the seats down with bug spray and then put a towel over it. I kept trying to get it switched out but the rental car place never had a replacement vehicle. Anyway, the Impala is back.
4) Discovered "The Sentinel" the show and the fic both. And yeah it's cheezy but my GOD the slash. :)
My favorite fic there so far is http://www.janedavitt.com/PointofContact.html which is just--whew. I haven't gotten into a PWP in forever but this is just so hot and so kinky in just the right ways.
5) Writing. I promise I'm writing. Just--little bits of nothing at the moment. The beginning of a Jared Hooker!fic. The beginning of a Sentinel fic. Some firefighter!jensen and thinking about the model!verse. But not really accomplising anything noteworthy and certainly not post-worthy.

Date: 2008-08-29 03:26 am (UTC)It's the BEST sort of cheese! And the slash is... well, okay, it's also the fandom with the AU where Jim and Blair are slaves to giant talking cats. BUT.
It's comfort food for my soul.

Date: 2008-08-30 03:14 am (UTC)And I'm sooo tempted to do a "5 ways Jim and Blair didn't meet" thing. Mostly because I have more bunnies than stamina right now.

Date: 2008-08-29 04:03 am (UTC)Meh. Noteworthy, post-worthy, whatever. Just talk to us! I hope you start sleeping better soon, I know how awful that can be. Very wearing.

Date: 2008-08-29 04:09 am (UTC)I'm sorry about your lack of sleep. I don't have any productive suggestions for better sleep apart from exercise and booze. Sometimes bad dreams just need to sort themselves out since your subconscious is just puking things up.
I'm glad to see you back.

Date: 2008-08-30 04:59 pm (UTC)I'm having more weird dreams than bad this week so that's an improvement.
I love busy. Bored makes me depressed.

Date: 2008-08-29 04:57 am (UTC)And yes, The Sentinel has to be one of the slashiest shows I've ever seen. I mean, totally over the top. Jim and Blair are so married. I watched the series when it ran and I've read quite a bit of the fic (it goes in fits and spurts - you'll get me started again) and not so long ago I realized that the first season was available for rent (haven't checked recently for S2) and re-watched it. Actually, it wasn't quite as cheesy as I remembered it - but it is pretty damn cheesy.

Date: 2008-09-08 09:56 pm (UTC)the other seasons are available for download at temple of the sentinels. I can get the exact address if you need it.
Blooper reels too. OMG slashy. Not quite J2 levels, but still.

Date: 2008-09-09 08:02 pm (UTC)The great thing about watching an old series again that you haven't seen in awhile is that it's almost all brand new again. You get that deja vu feeling as you're watching, but you don't know before hand what's going to happen.

Date: 2008-09-09 11:35 pm (UTC)Some of the blooper stuff is lame but what isn't lame is awesome.

Date: 2008-08-29 05:30 am (UTC)Please for the love of God write some Sentinel fic.. You writing Sentinel the way you write would win the interwebz!

Date: 2008-09-08 09:59 pm (UTC)I'm like 1200 into a Sentinel post-civil-war AU.
You know what drives me nuts about Sentinel AUs? That no matter where they are or what time or whatever, they all have the same "You're a Sentinel and Blah blah Not so much a scout as a watchman, changed their diet to fish and rice blah blah." speech. Every one! Not going there. Blair can do his job without knowing that crap.

Date: 2008-08-29 05:57 am (UTC)I'm kind of boggled the rental place would even rent a car infested with pests

Date: 2008-09-08 10:01 pm (UTC)Heh. writing is like pulling teeth. I have ideas but the words don't work. I am finally like "fuck it!" and just writing whatever spews out. Just to get some of the freakin' clutter out of my head.
The guy at the rental place asked what it would take for me to say "compltely satisfied" if I was called for a random survey. I was thinking "Not even blowjobs would make up for that crap."

Date: 2008-09-08 10:02 pm (UTC)It's pretty generic fic...not much of the mythos of the show in it at all. Not even much Sentinel stuff in it.

Date: 2008-08-29 07:39 am (UTC)3) Do you actually have an Impala? Because, nice!
5) I get suck a thrill when new people get into the show! And the fics can be so good, too!
5) That's music to my ears! And hail to you and the beginning of your Sentinel fic!

Date: 2008-09-08 10:05 pm (UTC)Yeah, 2006 Impala. I love her. Also, the trunk is big enoug for multiple bodies (or all the crap I have to haul around).
Heh. Loving the fic. I've watched the first season and a few of the second.
Writing a post-civil-war Sentinel-AU. Ahhh, crack, how I missed you.

Date: 2008-08-29 07:53 am (UTC)As for the car situation, what a rotten deal! And kind of gross. Glad you've got your car back. Not a classic Impala, is it?!
Sorry for the sleep issues. Five or six years ago I had so many versions of the same bad dream that I started deliberately staying up night after night, afraid to go to sleep. I'd still wake up pressed up against the wall, sweating profusely & generally terrified. And then one day, they just...went away. o_0 I hope yours do the same (with the going away). ;)

Date: 2008-09-08 10:07 pm (UTC)Yeah, they totally sucked there.
Not a classic Impala but I love her anyway. I have back issues and needed the adjustability of the seat or I'd have gone for a classic of some sort.
Dreams are better lately. Saved me from being terribly late to school today at least. Freaky propheticness.

Date: 2008-08-29 08:06 pm (UTC)Hope you have some fun times too! To balance all the stuff you put up with and turn it towards the brighter and brighter sides :-)
Writing?! Don´t you worry! It´s always worth waiting for your stories, totally no matter how long it takes. As one Dean Winchester put it so acuratly once in the beginning of season 1: "You can´t rush perfection!"

Date: 2008-09-08 10:09 pm (UTC)So should I post the first 2 chapters of the hooker-fic? Even though it's barely a beginning?

Date: 2008-08-30 12:26 am (UTC)And thanks for the PoC rec; very happy you're enjoying it; that one was so much fun to write.
I'm writing a sequel, but it keeps getting bumped down the to-do list by writing with deadlines (and paychecks :-))

Date: 2008-08-30 03:07 am (UTC)My god, I was reading it in Chick-fil-A and I know I was blushing like a tomato.

About the fics:
Yay, please write some more model!verse! Please? Although I'm happy whatever your muse is willing to produce... but I think I just fell in love with the model!Jensen when I read it some while ago. I already gave up hope you wuold continue, so this news do really lighten up my day. :)

Date: 2008-09-03 11:49 pm (UTC)Feel free to friend. I love getting new friends even if I'm not so good about two-way communication some weeks.
You've seen the "masterlist of my fics" tag, yes?
no subject
Date: 2008-09-04 09:57 am (UTC)I just friended you. :)
Yes of course I saw the list! :D
I think there's not much left I didn't read. Um, it's possible that I didn't leave comments on most of them. Sorry about that, but when I started to read fanfiction back in March this year (yes I'm very new to all the stuff) I didn't even have an account (I didn't like to leave anonymous comments, that was kinda appalling to me). Even after I signed myself in it took me some time to get over my shyness and actually leave comments. So I can't really remember If I already started to leave comments or not when I read your stories. What I wanna say is that I love all of them if I left a note or not. :)

Date: 2008-09-08 10:19 pm (UTC)Insomnia/distracting the brain: Yeah it is. Think that's why lj is my discovery of the year. If I can't sleep I read or (yet still seldom) write fics. :D
