Okay, seriously? I had my first post-partum period at like 4 months. It's now almost 8 and I've had 6 periods. All heavy but almost cramp-free. Still, a 21 day cycle is not my friend.
Be mindful of family history though. A stroke is not a cheap price for a longer cycle. Also avoid anything that hasn't been out for 10 or 15 years. Other people have run into problems so let their experiences (detailed in various class actions)be your warning. Good luck.
On another note these days I use a diva cup rather than tampons or a pad. Made of surgical grade silicone is good for 12 hours. With a heavy flow 4 to 6 hours. Much less disruptive to the daily routine.
