House rebuild fuckery

Okay, the house has been broken into 3 times that we know of. Once, they stole a window-unit airconditioner and the workers' ladders. The second time they stole $800 worth of doors. There's nothing in there worth taking right now, but the workers nailed the gate shut so they'd stay out. They kicked through the paneling in the garage (it's unfinished on the inside) and got into the yard and then pried the wood that was nailed over the door off.

Apparently, nobody writes insurance policies that will cover theft or vandalism for a house in rebuild. The builder is not responsible. I'm pricing guard-dog rentals tomorrow. Has anybody ever used this kind of service?? They're insured for $2million but I think that's just if the dog damages things or someone sues for getting bit.

If we put the electrical wiring in and it gets stolen, or the parts of teh central AC that are outside, we will have to take out a loan to cover the loss. If we have to do that twice, we'd be better off to have sold the house as-is and bought a move-in ready place.

We have to tell the apartment complex 60 days in advance before we move out. We can't move forward until we know if it's secure.

I am so fucking stressed. I just want to curl up and write porn all day.

I'm so sorry. Be sure and post signs as a deterrent also. If they know the dog is in there they'll probably find something else to do.

There can be weird liability issues if you post "Beware of Dog" signs, so maybe put one up that says "Dog in yard". One is saying the dog is dangerous, the other sign is just stating a fact.

No trespassing signs carry a pretty good weight under Texas law so be sure and have some up. I wonder if castle doctrine applies if you don't live in the house yet? I know you won't but you can actually shoot someone if they're breaking into your house after dark and they're running away and you tell them to stop but they don't.

I think the sign and all are the guard-dog company's problems. I'm sure they know how to do it. They're insured, so fuck it if that dog tears an intruder up I am not usually so vindictive but I hope it tears their Achilles tendon off. this is the thing that will mean we can NEVER go home. That we have to pick a new house and move to a new neighborhood and I'm nto prepared at all, school-wise for Sami or anything. I seriously almost want to borrow a gun from my godson and sit there over the weekend. If it had electricity and internet I'd spend the night and shoot a face-full of rocksalt at someone. I am serioulsy the most angry I've been in a long time.

I almost want to put up the signs now, so that when the dog's really there they won't believe it and go in anyway. This is seriously fucking with my calm.

If they keep coming back it would be a great trap setup for the cops to arrest them. Dunno if anybody in the copshop has thought about that, or has time...
