Amtgard Weekend

Yeah, I had planned out a huge play-by-play of the adventures this weekend, but here's the highlights:

Camping in a cabin with A/C and a shower!
Shooting that guy that wouldn't move in the nuts (with a padded arrow, still, ouch)

Margul made us all breakfast. For me, the one who always cooks, that was very cool. Like a real vacation.

Came home nowhere near as sore as I thought I'd be.

I'm not as much of a wimp as I used to be, but still. That was nice. We camped up in Indiana once, went one and a half days without running water, woke up in a tent with frozen dew covering everything including the sleeping bags. Holy crap.

Missed you too, lady. Whatcha been up to? Anything new and exciting? How you doing with that patch of the blues you hit? Better?

Did you see the title of the latest DeathKnell-verse chapter? Threw Away the Sun. Damnation. I"m not changing though. screw it.

Nothing new around here. I'm trying to study - I have to read two books for next week - and start my final project. Other than that, nothing really.

I'm feeling better, with some down moments, specially early in the morning, which is odd. I sed to feel worse late at night, now the worse moments are when I wake up.

And I still didn't send you my complete review of Threw Away the Sun. I'll do it this weekend (3 day weekend, yes!).

Don't even think of changing the name of the fic, btw. We all know its name already - from that meme last month, so no worries there.

Wow, 2 books in a week sucks. I thought my 3Dstudio Max teacher was bad with 100 pages of graphics manual between classes. Good luck on that final project. We're just starting the second week of class.

Yes, the weekend was a blast. Drove up Fri night, fought in the wars on Saturday (as an archer, woohoo!), had that ceremony-thing, all pomp and circumstance on Sat night, and drove back late sat, early sunday.

Slept all day sunday. Watched movies all day monday. It was greatness.

I started going to counseling at school. Apparently it's a free service as long as I'm enroled and taking classes. I've just been sorta roller-coaster, emotionally, so I thought I'd get a pro to talk it out with. Dunno if something like that's avaliable where you are. Are you taking care of you in the little ways? Eating as best you can, and getting some sunlight every day, and maybe going for a walk? I know when I"m down that I forget things like that.

My days are spent between the office I work at, school and home. Don't have much time left for anything, unfortunately.

I'm having mood swings, which are horrible, because I'm okay, and then something sets me off and I feel down again. Earlier today I was okay, now I feel like going home and lay down.

Sorry you're having the mood swings. Those are really hard to deal with because it's like "I was okay an hr ago, what the hell happened?"

Is that the SCA, or is it something else? I don't know what amtgard is...

I was in the SCA once, but it took up a lot of my time and I was pre-med at that point in my life. When I fence I run into a lot of people who cross over from SCA fencing to olympic-style fencing, but I haven't been doing jack with that lately either.

It's a seperate game, more fantasy, less re-enactment. Foam-weapon-fighting, non-functional armor. It's pretty big down here in texas where it gets too hot to wear armor half the year.

Fencing is super-cool. One of our bad-ass fighters has been doing sabre recently. It's funny when he squares off against someone and they're expecting to be beaten down and he just does this elegant little lunge-poke and it's over. :)
