Vintage clothing find of the week:
Jun. 14th, 2013 03:27 pmI am so excited, you guys!
I was out and about with no time to go home, but I was still way early to pick Sami up at school, and I saw an Estate Sale sign and decided to stop in.
I found a pair of 1940's or 1950's showgirl stage outfits, or maybe cigarette girl uniforms? One is ivory satin, with a little jacket with short tails, a very short skirt and matching 'panties'. The other is like a peacock blue, with scarlet lining and accents and matching shorts.
The condition on them could be better (stains on the ivory and stains and a popped seam on the blue one) but they were just such a neat thing to find (and an incredible price too). I need to get them drycleaned, but I seriously don't trust the neighborhood cleaners to touch these. I feel like they should be handled by a textile archivist or something.
I need to get photos, but they're too tiny to fit my mannequin.
When I was at the sale, some lady asked "Oh, are you buying dress-up clothes for your child?" I was like "No. No, definitely not."
Also today, I got my first mammogram (yay for the digital kind that doesn't squish nearly as hard as the old ones used to, apparently).
And I got my hair all cut off. Feels sooooo good. :)
